Samajwadi party leader Amar Singh’s kidney
transplant in Singapore went off successfully on July 10.

closest friends from the industry, Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt, couldn’t
make it to Singapore their respective wives more than made up for their
husbands’ absence. Bachchan had to cancel his trip at the last minute due to a
health scare and Sanjay was denied a

Bachchan too put her shooting schedule for Shankar’s Robot on hold to be with
Bachchan’s closest family friend in his hour of crisis. Jaya Prada also dropped

star wives said, “It had become an all-girls club in Singapore with Jaya Prada
also dropping in to meet him (Singh). There was nothing to do there except be
present by his side and enquire about his progress. One couldn’t go shopping or
sightseeing at a time like this. It was a grim situation but yes, we wives
Although Jaya Prada was
seen at the hospital for only a brief visit, Jaya Bachchan, Maanyata and
Aishwarya remained by Singh’s side till he was declared out of danger. While
Aishwarya divided her time between
her mother-in-law and husband, Abhishek, who represented his father in
Singapore, Mrs Bachchan and Mrs Dutt didn’t move from the special room in the
hospital where they had ample privacy.
For Jaya Bachchan, the
situation was doubly demanding since Amitabh had a health scare just when they
were scheduled to leave for Singapore together. She eventually went without her
husband. Putting up a brave front, she said, “There’s nothing to worry about. My
husband is fine. It’s just his intestine that keeps twisting because of all the
problems he has gone through.” She
said that Amar Singh is recuperating well and will be back on his feet soon.
Maanyata returned to Mumbai yesterday morning
and the Bachchan family is also expected to be back shortly.
