No nude Neil Nitin Mukesh in Jail now!
The film with its violent, intimate and nude scenes was set for an
Adult certificate, but Madhur wanted a U/A one, as he wanted to reach
out to a larger audience. So he deleted seven scenes from the movie for
the rating. Among the scenes that haven’t made it to the final cut are:
a homosexual scene (a Madhur Bhandarkar staple), Neil’s nude scene,
Neil’s lovemaking scene with Mugdha, a sex joke and dialogues with foul
language.
A source tells us that Madhur was initially hesitant to delete these
scenes, but he had to give in because the Censor Board is very strict.
The nude scene was already blurred, but they asked him to blur it even
further.
The source adds, ‘Madhur is very happy that he has made a hard-hitting
film once again that portrays the judicial system of our country
realistically. The Censor Board also loved the film. They found it
impressive, thought-provoking and well-researched. They would have
retained all the scenes and given it an ‘A’ certificate, but since it
was given a ‘U/A’, they had to delete certain scenes.’
Madhur defended his film by saying, 'I want everyone to see my film, so
I will do as the censor board says to reach a wider audience.
Previously too, I have given in to their demands, as it benefited my
films, and the scenes that they have asked to cut in Jail can be
curtailed, as it will not take away from the crux of the film.'
Madhur Bhandarkar’s previous films like Traffic Signal, Fashionn, Page
3, Chandni Barand Corporate were all rated ‘A’ and yet most of them
scored at the BO because a certain section of the audience watches his
films for the novelty factor. Madhur has a penchant for shooting scenes
that don’t make it to the final cut. He does this just to create buzz
around the film. The pictures of Neil’s nude scene were leaked out and
that got people talking. Then all the stories of Tihar jail made news.
During Fashion also, Priyanka and Arjan Bajwa shot intimate scenes
which were edited in post-production.
The spokesperson for Jail said, “The nude and lovemaking scenes have been deleted.”
